| The European Microbocides Project (EMPRO) is a consortium of
24 partners consisting of academic institutions and SME's across
Europe and in Africa. The project is coordinated and managed by
Kings College London and will run for 5 years, beginning at the
start of 2004.

EMPRO has been funded by the European Commission as part of
the Sixth Framework Programme. The objective of the Sixth Framework
Programme is to continue previous work in
"developing a true European scientific community
equipped with the best skills and know-how, and to support scientific
and technical work of the highest quality, conducted through transnational
projects benefiting from mobile workers"

The total budget for the Sixth Framework programme is €17.5 billion
which represents the third largest operational budget within the
EU's overall budget.
