EMPRO aims to develop a pipeline of novel microbicides and enter the first of these new candidate microbicide drugs into the first stages of clinical testing. The drugs developed will be topical microbicides that are designed to block the entry of HIV at mucosal sites such as the vagina and rectum.

These microbicides are being designed for women in developing countries in an attempt to give women greater choice and control over their sexual health.
